ABOUT TODDLER
Welcome to Toddler!
For children ages 18 to 36 months—
The Montessori Toddler Program is an active, self-paced learning environment for all five senses. Children are introduced to the five areas of the Montessori Curriculum, including: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Culture, and develop competence through repetition and practice.
Between the ages of two and three, toddlers move through sensitive periods for language, order, small objects, toilet training, music, grace and courtesy, and the senses. The design of the Toddler classroom and the educational materials within reflect these interests and provide rich opportunities for learning that nurture children’s complete development.
Similarly, the daily routine reflects this age groups’ need to learn through movement and hands-on experience, while embracing the children’s individual needs, interests, and learning style.

Toddler Lead Guide
A Note from our Toddler Lead Guide, Madison Groves:
I am an empathetic and innovative educator and mama who sees the individual strengths and interests of each child. I place high value on relationships, creativity, active listening, and clear communication. My background is in English Education. I love helping students discover the power of language and stories. I fell in love with the Montessori method after having my daughter Poppy in the spring of 2023. I am so excited to work toward the flourishing of students at Cathedral Montessori School.
Toddler Environment
The Toddler Montessori classroom is a carefully curated prepared-environment that will help support the development of children, ranging in age from 18 months to 36 months. We have mix-age groupings, allowing younger children to learn from the activities of the older children, and providing the older children opportunities to teach and nurture the younger child. Each child may choose what to work on and with whom to work. The Toddler Montessori classroom will help cultivate the child’s social and independent skills, foster the child’s love for learning, and provide an aid for life, as well as prepare them for the Primary Program.
"The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”
—Maria Montessori
